CVB honored at annual Almost Heaven Achievement Awards
The Jefferson County Convention & Visitors Bureau was recently honored during the annual Governors Conference on Tourism, held at the Marriott Morgantown at Waterfront Place. The CVB won the Almost Heaven Achievement Award for the Best Advertising and Marketing Campaign.
The annual Almost Heaven Achievement Awards are an opportunity for the West Virginia Department of Tourism to recognize industry partners across the state for their achievements in advertising, marketing and public relations and for their contributions to the tourism industry in West Virginia.
The multi-media campaign includes: magazine, television, newspaper inserts, digital media, social media, streaming services, DC Metro take-over, public relations, brochures, and travel guides.
The campaign produced over 8 million impressions, 47,000 website clicks, and 700,000 video views.
2025 public relations efforts have generated over 2 billion impressions with an estimated value over $15 million.
“We are thrilled to be recognized by our peers for the work we are doing to bring more visitors to Jefferson County,” says Annette Gavin Bates, CEO of the Jefferson County Convention & Visitors Bureau. “We have incredible assets to promote in our county and we are blessed with a supportive board and collaborative people running our tourism businesses.”
Jefferson County continues to account for more visitor spend than any other county in West Virginia. And the Eastern Panhandle accounts for more visitor spend than any other travel region in the state accounting for more than $1.2 billion annually.
The campaign was developed and implemented by the CVB staff working in tandem with their marketing agency Nikki Butler Design.
“The Almost Heaven Achievement Awards Ceremony allows tourism professionals from all around the state to gather together and reflect on the amazing work we are doing to make West Virginia a top-tier travel destination,” said West Virginia Department of Tourism Secretary Chelsea Ruby.
